4PlayONEShot - the next little evolutionary step

4Play was a little idea that really caught on. It has done so well that I am continuing to expand titles and in an effort to cover all the bases, I am offering a new variant on the theme. Some gamers don't swap lanes. It's either multi-based big battles or skirmish gaming, but not both.

The 4Play packs are to my mind very good value for money with three comprehensive and well thought out gaming...

First fruits of a very long labour - Scenarios for the War in Ireland 1688-1691

I started collecting the material for these scenarios over eight years ago and the more I dug, the more I found. I could never decide on the final public sharing of the content in terms of format. I had thought about a book but needed some other supportive content which has ended up in other projects. The success of the 4Play format finally helped me make up my mind and so I am delighted to...

King of Buccaneers, 1671

Clarence Harrison
- So this was an epic undertaking. When Barry first unveiled the 4Play scenario pack concept, he invited me to join in. While I had a pile of ideas, I quickly realized I didn't have the models to present them in the manner I wished. We were eyeball deep in Mad for the Warat the time. As naval gaming had never been a passion of mine, I set out to read some books on the subject to...

Jungle Warfare (see what I did there?)

Two Arab slavers observe the advance of  'al ainjiliz' through the jungle

The first 'full scale' land battle of the campaign is about to be fought thirteen days of 40% of the way through. 200 English sailors accompanied by Berber PoWs now incorporated into Royalist ships' crews and some local Christian African villagers have moved inland to raid the Komban Royal enclosure.

Augsburg Partizan Candy..

Ottomans and Tatars to the left, Cossacks and Commonwealth to the right.

Following on from the Candia Magnificence, my bijouterie lived next door at Newark, offering the Partizan audience an intense little corner of Turkish Delight which seemed to please them.

It's been a curious thing, but over the last few months the number...

Candia Candy - Ian Cluskey's Epic

Sense the scale of this epic!

Devotion to the cause is the mark of the 17th century gamer. It doesn't come at any higher level than Jean de Dieu Labedoyere's (aka Ian C) game modelling the epic 21 years siege of Iraklion (Heraklio), Crete between 1648 and 1669.

Close in naval support

I am told it was perhaps seven years in the making. My game and this tour de force were side by side at The Other...

Tooling up for some 4Play in the 1650-1690 period Eastern style

I really don't remember having this much stuff, but I guess it has been accumulating over the past few years. Although I will have to top and tail a few units the armies are pretty solid  in terms of numbers and troop types. Here are a few shots of Polish, Cossack, Ottoman and Tatar forces.

They will feature in a few new foreplay scenario packs I am currently working on so, if you are a fan of With...

1652 Prince Rupert in the Gambia campaign

We've recently begun a campaign recreating the adventures of the itinerant Royalist Fleet on the West African coast in 1652. Under Prinz Ruprecht von der Pfalz known more commonly in Engish as Rupert of the Rhine, a small battered squadron 'privateered' between the Islas Cabo Verde and The Gambia for some weeks.

I have manipulated a few facts but nothing too outrageous. We have...

Das Heer des Blauen Königs - The Bavarian Army

Clarence has produced a fantastic set of Bavarian infantry flags for the period 1680-1714. These were drawn partly from the portfolio of  Das Heer des Blauen Königs Die Soldaten des Kurfürsten Max II. Emanuel von Bayern, 1682-1726 by Anton Hoffman.

He has also created a set of generic standards for cuirassier regiments. A fine addition to our range and now available in both the online stores of...

I have just uploaded a new League of Augsburg style video called a Flypast. It gives a 5 minute primier on a topic of interest in this case, the legendary yeniçeri or Janissary Corps of the Ottoman Empire.
