Ottoman mounted archers OTC02

A closer look at the pack OTC02. These split waist archers can be positioned in a variety of poses and with a random selection of three different lower bodies plus the seven different horse types available an astonishing degree of variety is possible.

The figures were a joy to paint and the sense of movement is tangible. These will be useful for a very wide period of the time from the 1400s to the...

BLB Head to Head #1: Gardes Francaises v Garden til Fods

The epitome of a XVII Guard unit for Beneath the Lily Banners

I thought it might be an idea to explain some of the BLB mechanisms by directly comparing opposing troops types in a gaming context both from a shooting and close combat perspective and adding a little detail on the units involved for those interested in collecting or building a particular formation.

Where better to start than with two...

Bit of a clean up.. Ottoman cavalry go for production

It took a ong time to clean and inspect this lot!

This fantastic range has been dogged by little challenges along the way. Some related to design, some to production, others to me actually having enough time to undertake the fairly mammoth task of cleaning up 151 master castings of various shapes and sizes. In order to get good clean production castings a careful job in necessary in preparing...

Galloping Hogan

Hogan’s role in this scenario is as a scout and not a fighter. He provides the Jacobite player with some extra options which emphasize his local knowledge and cunning.

PRE-ORDER FOR CRISIS - Brexit postponed to make it easy for me to travel?

Thanks to whoever may have made it easy to visit CRISIS which was up until October 28th POST Brexit. It now appears to be PRE Brexit. Sniffer dogs and detection robots will therefore possibly not be crawling inside my boxes of painted miniatures on the boat across to Ijmuiden!

For any customers who wish to take advantage of a CRISIS 2019 Pre- order, just let me know what you want and I'll get it...

Release of Danish battalion packs

 Regiment Prinds Georg or Jorgen

Regiment Jyske or Jutland

Our Danish figures have proved quietly popular. Like the Danes themselves, they have gotten on with it without too much fuss. For wargamers with a practical approach the Danish army during the period 1675-1720 is a great choice. It was almost continuously at war. It can fight in theatres from Ireland Hungary. It can take the field for its...

Wargames Illustrated primer on With Talon and Claw

This is another well produced video from WI walking through the new book in some detail. I didn't even know it existed till I found it by accident on YouTube!

With Talon and Claw in depth look from WI

To balance things out having shared pictures of the Russian forces massing for Crisis 2019 I thought it only right to get the Boys in Blue in front of the camera too.

Media work

Been busy talking to some media moguls in the hobby over the last couple of weeks. I did a podcast interview for Henry Hyde's Battlechat Live 32 which seemed to fly by but actually lasted two hours. Well, Henry and I are never short of a word or dozen and the experience was candid and interesting. He has a nice interviewing style which opens the interviewee up before they know it. Henry is a...
