Warfare Miniatures: Prussians and Danes 1700-1721

Danish Marching Command pack

Clibinarium has been busy producing what I would describe as the 'bridge' figures between our Great Northern War and War of the Spanish Succession collections.

Prussian Command pack rear view

Prussian Command Marching

Primarily these codes were designed to complete the nations of the GNW giving us Swedes, Russians/Saxons, Danes and Brandenburgers /Prussians.

A novel new offer - Mounted Officer and Cornet packs

Cornet from WLOA40 with a new right arm! (As Adam Murray)

Over the years I have done many special deals for customers which have involved splitting packs to get various figures out. I have accumulated dozens of perfectly good cavalry models which cannot be sold in packs of three because one or more figures are missing.

Officer from WLOA36 as a brigadier of Horse

I have featured many of my...

Lots of Dragoons

Painted as Hanoverian Dragoons - WLOA58 and WLOA60

I have been slow off the mark painting and basing my dragoons but the new codes have sold very well so far despite having no oxygen of publicity.

Painted as Enniskillen Dragoons 1689-1692 WLOA58 & WLOA60

So, time to give them a little ventilation and let everyone see how they look in nice units. Painted by myself, Toggy, Rob Goodier and Jim Masson...

A Fascinating detour Part 2 - Brielle

Gateway in Brielle's inner defensive ramparts

Panel beyond the outer works explaining Brielle's position and history

The moat between out ramparts and the Molenbolwerk - can you see its cannon?

Whilst in Den Haag Toggy spotted an article about the fortress town of Brielle and its capture by the Sea Beggars during the Eighty Years War. Do you know anything about this? he asked. Nope was the unhelpful...

Discount on Warfare Miniatures for Partizan pre orders

WLOA58 & 60 Mounted dragoons

In order to maintain my blood pressure at an adequate level I won't be trading with Warfare Miniatures at Partizan. Running a demo and a trade stand with two people is less than relaxing.

I am happy though to offer 10% discount on any items ordered in advance. Just pop me an email at wordtwister@hotmail.co.uk before Friday 18th letting me...

Warfare GNW R16 Russian Grenadiers

Lots of hares have been running for many years on the topic of Russian Grenadier dress. The perpetuated image has been that of a tall mitre capped chap in a plain uniform very much in the fashion of the paintings of the English Foot Guard grenadiers or contemporary North German States'
grenadiers.

More recent research points to alternatives. The Russians appear to have had at least four regiments of...

The Siege of Barcelona 1714

Barcelona at the time of the siege 1714 - Born is the district in the bottom right

On a recent trip to Barcelona I accidentally stumbled across what I initially believed to be a Roman archaeological exhibition in the Born Market. The magnificent excavated ruins of complete buildings, streets and waterways are breathtaking.

A small portion of the 1,000 destroyed houses which lie below modern...

St John's disciples strike back - The case FOR Marlbrook!

The truth is so dazzling I had to wear shades

A light hearted meander right back into the crosshairs...............

Clearly my quest to shine the light of truth into the darkest corners of historical propaganda-fiction is having some effect. At SALUTE 2016 I was lobbied by several members of the pro-Johnno faction for my criminally pitiless pursuit of one of England's national treasures St John of...

Storming the Schellenberg 1704 Diorama

These shots show a nice diorama which resides in the Guards Division Museum on Birdcage Walk.

I thought blog followers would enjoy the construction on the defences and the interesting combinations of figures used in the diorama.

There was not a lot of information of who made it, when it was made and what make the figures are but it is a super piece of work.

The attack on the Schellenberg took place...

A Scrivener's revenge? Hilton hits Marlborough Cult with conspiracy slur!

The Marlborough Fanzine issue

Well, it is no news that I am not Supporter #1 in the 'John Churchill for beatification campaign'. When Wargames Illustrated asked me if I wanted to contribute to their 'Marlborough Special' edition I decided the answer was... yes, but.

OK, so I liked Rainbow very much!

The but was; I wrote a piece which presented a slightly altered image of the great man and cast him...
