Donnybrook at Sea - a Q & A summary

 Why?

My lifelong interest in naval wargaming has only recently been allowed to flourish. The research needed to complete a comprehensive set of rules for the period 1630-1720 made it clear that the vast majority of naval action involved a handful of small ships. The mega sea battles of which there were many, are the mere tip of an enormous berg. By ignoring the small ship action anyone interested...

Normal service is being resumed at Warfare Miniatures

I am glad to say that although it has actually taken a year, normal service is being resumed in terms of figure availability.

For those who have been missing codes from the range for a while - a look today will evidence that the bulk of the cavalry has now reappeared.

I also hope to make the Cossacks available within the next 7-10 days too.

More of an explanation of how things will change going...

It's here! Christmas came a little early..

Despite Brexit, Covid 19, National lockdown and a snap snowfall in Scotland - A one tonne pallet arrived from Lithuania via Thames Gateway and I unloaded it this morning.

A Taste of Victory! will ship to pre order customers on Monday and Tuesday next week which is 10 days earlier than I had anticipated. Hurrah!

I am happy that this project got from drawing board to market quicker than any I have...

Koxinga and Shi Lang - Donnybrook at Sea goes East

Donnybrook at Sea will be released over the next two weeks. Its production has allowed us to indulge our passion for both the 17th century and ships in excess.... oh what fun we've had!

Koxinga leads a flotilla of small vessels against the Dutch at Fort Zeelandia

A little discovery gem for me has been the exploits of Zheng Chenggong a Ming loyalist who, in his short 37 years did enough to guarantee...

A Taste of Victory - some insights into content and focus

The climax of Fleurus is one of the larger scenarios. Orbat is from the the previous chapter- Walcourt.

When pulling together the content for A Taste of Victory!I had some choices to make. I am bothered by rehashing as an activity. Often when a subject is covered by various authors the same topics get hit again and again. This means when deeper research or enquiry need to take place, the same old...

With Talon and Claw released in pdf format

With Talon and Claw has proven very popular in printed form and now that it has been available for 15 months, I am releasing it in pdf format at Hi-Resolution.

GNW Swedes from.. Russia! The work of Alexey Kovshikov

Thanks Alexey for sending these fine images of GNW Swedes. I am happy to say I now have several customers in Russia and GNW is proving of course, pretty popular.

I am even more curious abut the other period which seems to be popular with my Russian customers.... King William's War in Ireland!

A mixture of Warfare and I think, Ebor? miniatures.

Western Approaches 1651 - Royalist and Irish privateers attack GWC ships

True, I have not been blogging as frequently as usual recently but that is not an indication of lack of hobby time, the opposite is true. A cancelled holiday in the north of Scotland due to raised levels of national restriction gave me an extra week with no work and no travel. That has allowed a real focus on several projects....

Dino Todaro's troops for Northern Italian campaigns 1689-1714

Guardie Regiment of Savoy

Friend of the Blog Dino, lives in one of the most beautiful parts of the world - Tuscany. He has told me he was born a Roman and moved north. He also told me he served in the regiment which descended from the Savoy Guards. That's a lot of Italy for one man - don't be so selfish Dino, share more! :)

The Guards from the back. A view the enemy would not see!

As he also helped...
