The League of Augsburg

Snorkel up..

Aha! you say, where is he? Locked up at home and not blogging? Yes but...

I have been using all non-core work time to get these scenario pdfs packs produced from scratch. So far I have created six packs and play tested  and photographed 18 scenarios for inclusion. All the games have brief AARs to help players with tips and recommeded rules or adjustments where necessary.

All games are played on...

Warfare Miniatures product availability update

Just a quick note to let everyone know that Warfare Miniatures is still very much open for business. We do have some depleting/out of stock situations but those products have now been removed (temporarily) from the online store. Everything visible in the store is available right now.

The situation is directly related to the lock-down. Whilst we are all bunkered-down, gamers and collectors are still...

MIA? Ma - ma!

I may have appeared missing in action over the last few days... not so. I have been using every spare hour to set up, play and photograph small games for a series of pdfs I hope to release within the next 3-4 weeks. This has already involved nine x 90 minute games since Sunday last, with each of them having to be written up as a scenario, photographed and AAR completed. All are based on research I...

Beneath the Lily Banners 2nd edition - a hidden stash.

A stock clear out has revealed a few copies of the long out of print Beneath the Lily Banners 2nd edition stuffed away where I'd obviously forgotten about them. The hard copies of this book sold out about five years ago so this was a little bit of a find.

Of these, a couple are in perfect condition. The others all have small blemishes on the back covers. Pictures show the extent of that. The inside...

Marlborough's amphibious campaign 1690 - pdf release

It is with delight and some pride that we release our latest pdf detailing the campaigns in Ireland between 1688 and 1691.

Charles Fort, Kinsale - scene of a bloody siege, sallies and assaults

This one deals with the ambitious and extremely successful amphibious campaign undertaken by the Earl of Marlborough against Cork and Kinsale in the autumn of 1690. Involving thousands of troops fresh from...

Warfare Miniatures Tatars - a preview

 Tatars- a preview.

Tatars fighting Swedish cavalry at Warsaw 1656, Lemke

As a follow on from the Ottoman Sipahis recently released, I've been hard at work on some Tatar cavalry.
Though the idea to add them to the range was originally as a supplement to the Ottoman forces, they certainly can be considered to be an important power in their own right, being a major headache for the fledgeling Russian...

Just like the Elves....

OTC01 Ottoman cavalry officers
No! Don't turn away, I am NOT blogging about Fantasy models!
Just like Santa's elves I have been hidden away in my man cave working away on painting projects which required a bit of attention.

OTC04 Ottoman Sipahis with right arm variants

So, here are some more of the completed Ottoman cavalry. I am starting with some finished code shots and a feature on the officer...

The variants require a bit of explaining.

Three of the horses

Three more of the horses

Seventh horse is on the far left here

There are seven horse variants. A random selection from the seven will be included in each...

Ottoman mounted archers OTC02

A closer look at the pack OTC02. These split waist archers can be positioned in a variety of poses and with a random selection of three different lower bodies plus the seven different horse types available an astonishing degree of variety is possible.

The figures were a joy to paint and the sense of movement is tangible. These will be useful for a very wide period of the time from the 1400s to the...

It's that time of year again.. Warfare Christmas give away!

Where did 2019 go? My daughter recently told me a school in Glasgow was in the papers because it had renamed Christmas so as not to offend anyone.... It is now called Sparkle Day...... yes, well...

At least I managed to get With Talon and Clawpublished and it looks like I'll get the Ottoman cavalry under the wire too so they should appear in the shop soon. As my house has to make space for copious...

Bit of a clean up.. Ottoman cavalry go for production

It took a ong time to clean and inspect this lot!

This fantastic range has been dogged by little challenges along the way. Some related to design, some to production, others to me actually having enough time to undertake the fairly mammoth task of cleaning up 151 master castings of various shapes and sizes. In order to get good clean production castings a careful job in necessary in preparing...

8 battlefields.... and a wedding!

Is that possible?

In Scotland it is! Between leaving home in East Kilbride and arriving at the Craigellachie Hotel near Dufftown we passed through or within one mile of eight battlefields.
Craigellachie bridge over the Spey in the heart of whisky country. Manufactured in Wales!

The destination was a beautiful Georgian era bridge over the River Spey at Craigellachie on which three famous Highland...
