Whiskey in the Jar-oh! Part 6: Characters and stuff

Hogan?
Galloping Hogan

Hogan’s role in this scenario is as a scout and not a fighter. He provides the Jacobite player with some extra options which emphasize his local knowledge and cunning.

·       Hogan and the Shannon: Hogan can change the position of the ford! When he writes down the designated crossing point at the start of the game...

PRE-ORDER FOR CRISIS - Brexit postponed to make it easy for me to travel?

Thanks to whoever may have made it easy to visit CRISIS which was up until October 28th POST Brexit. It now appears to be PRE Brexit. Sniffer dogs and detection robots will therefore possibly not be crawling inside my boxes of painted miniatures on the boat across to Ijmuiden!

For any customers who wish to take advantage of a CRISIS 2019 Pre- order, just let me know what you want and I'll get it...

Release of Danish battalion packs

 Regiment Prinds Georg or Jorgen

Regiment Jyske or Jutland

Our Danish figures have proved quietly popular. Like the Danes themselves, they have gotten on with it without too much fuss. For wargamers with a practical approach the Danish army during the period 1675-1720 is a great choice. It was almost continuously at war. It can fight in theatres from Ireland Hungary. It can take the field for its...

More WiP shots of the wagonburg construction - mobile gateway

During the evolving construction process

I fancied making a towed, mobile gateway for my wagon burg. The idea it that this feature guards the main entrance to the wagon fortress and, when necessary, can be towed out of the space it plugs to let troops in our out.

Creating a towing bar - probably need a lot of oxen for this beast

The design had no drawing or plan, it is built from instinct and evolved...

Wargames Illustrated primer on With Talon and Claw

This is another well produced video from WI walking through the new book in some detail. I didn't even know it existed till I found it by accident on YouTube!

With Talon and Claw in depth look from WI

WI is also running a couple of articles soon. One is a battle report from a game I ran for Dan Faulconbridge and Mark Shearwood (Hi Mark!). The second is a scenario for gaming the Battle of...

Wargames Illustrated walk through of With Talon and Claw game

Here is a link to a video I recorded with Dan behind the camera a couple of weeks back. Mark Shearwood played Dan in the game which will be featured in Wargames Illustrated in a forthcoming issue.

To balance things out having shared pictures of the Russian forces massing for Crisis 2019 I thought it only right to get the Boys in Blue in front of the camera too.

Guest Post: Alexey Kovshikov - GNW Swedish artillery

Some excellent photos of Swedish artillery from the collection of Russian enthusuast Alexey Kovshikov.

Alexey wanted me to point out that this outstanding work was done by painter Mikhail Mirosnik.

It shows both Warfare Miniatures and Ebob Miniatures sculpts together.

These blend very well and Mikhail has done an outstanding job in making each piece work.

Thanks for sharing Alexey.

Fate, Fortune or Faithlessness? Camaret Bay June 18th, 1694. Part 3

Possibly Lord Carmarthen running the Gullet

Consequence of perfidy

When the Allied fleet arrived in Camaret Bay it immediately came under fire from the forts around Camaret village and those at Bertheaume Bay on the northern shore opposite. The plan was for men o’ war to run the narrow channel called the ‘Gullet’ between the two headlands and sail into the anchorage at Brest. This gap was exactly...
