Synthesizing.. it's what I do

We are attempting to collate disparate information sources into a central pool and challenge some dubious 'facts'

The process of compiling our uniform and unit history guides is one I enjoy very much. I liken it to cold-case detection work or forensic accounting... that doesn't sound hugely exciting but in fact, the activity is absorbing and extremely rewarding.

I do not see myself as an author. In...

Partizan -debrief

General view of the League of Augsburg table at Partizan

We had the full first team on the park for Partizan on a glorious May Sunday. After a great evening, visiting the Queen's Sconce at Devon Park, walking the banks of the Trent Navigation channel, one or two libations and a nice Thai meal we were ready for action!

We went wandering around the weirs and bridges to keep us out of the Public Houses

Prussians loading

We are delighted to be able to preview some outstanding masters of Danish and Prussia/Brandenburg musketeers in Firing line. These models can be used for both the War of the Spanish Succession (WSS) and the Great Northern War (GNW).

Interview with Barry - The War of Three Kings

This interview was recorded right after we had played a game set in 1672 using Nick Eyre's wonderful collection. The game featured a numerically inferior Dutch Army taking on the mighty French during the infamous Rampjaar (Disaster Year).

Dan allows me to ramble on about the rules, why we made certain decisions and future developments from Warfare/WordTwister.

Rawdon Raises an Army, Part One

Thomas Grove - After playing a game of Beneath the Lily Banners/The War of Three Kings I was hooked. Now to create my own army.

I really enjoyed Arthur Rawdon's force from the scenario we playedso I decided I would stick with the Cock of the North. In reality Arthur's military career didn't last long. But pulling from Clarence's and Barry's alternate history I'm going to soldier on with him and...

Wandering Around Ireland, Part VII

Clarence Harrison- After trekking up and down both banks of the Boyne, we set out to find the point where the Jacobites mounted a desperate rear guard in a walled graveyard on the crest of Donore Hill. It's not on the map. We pretty much drove around the hill and tried various sheep tracks (Barry called them roads...) that led in the general direction of the peak. After several wrong turns, Barry...

Amazing stories of Derring Do from Tactica..

Having at the last minute decided not to run this game at Partizan in favour of a Flanders Bash it is nice to give it one last airing here with some 'real life war stories' from the field of battle in Germany..

Notice the organized progress of these fine Danish Commanders!

Our Great German Horse race ran five times during the Tactica show. We entertained German, Danish and English players and ended...

The Walls of Limerick, Part III

Clarence Harrison- I've made some progress on my project for the Guns of August show this summer. It is August 24th-26th and I am definitely attending, though I will only be there Saturday and Sunday. The plan is to run the game twice on Saturday and once on Sunday. I have more detail to do on the walls of Limerick, but some of that will be easier do once the models are attached to the tiles....

Warfare, Quindia and Wordtwister: Here is the news 2018

Our most commercially successful SALUTE for four years

2018 has been a busy year for us so far. The big job was getting 'Billy Bunter's Postal Order' to finally arrive, aka The War of Three Kings ( Beneath the Lily Banners 3rd Edition). The book has been very well received and importantly for our continuing input to the hobby, commercially successful already.

Unlike Bunter's PO.. WTK did finally...
