These cover some exciting and unusual campaigns or, novel twists on better known campaigns. Anyone interested in the period will automatically associate the year 1685 with James II & VII's ascension to the throne and.... The Monmouth Rebellion. The Argyll Rebellion, which overlapped and was inextricably linked with Monmouth's adventure is not very well known and often dismissed in a few lines allowing all gunsights to be retrained yet again on the West Country Protestant rising.

Anniversary post- Blindheim and.....

Lest I forget! Today is the anniversary of that 'dine out' Waterloo of the 18th century... The Battle of Blindheim. Giving acknowledgement to this great feat of arms is completely justified. It was an astounding and decisive victory.

Queensbury or cage fighting?

The last couple of weeks has been consumed by intensive gaming and writing about the Great Northern War. The 4PlayX format which covers larger games on a 4 x 4 table, requires longer to set up, play, photograph and validate but oh boy, has it been worth it! I have been  utterly consumed by the twelve scenarios completed so far.
