Megorsky: a review of the Russian Army in the GNW - An essential!

This book is an essential asset for anyone interested in the Great Northern War. I believe it will become the benchmark  hobby book for the Petrine Army and although it does not mention figure gaming specifically, it focuses on detail and content continually sought by gamers.

Comparing it with publications of the past, the gulf between it and assumption, conjecture and the rehash of secondary or...

The big move

Will that shut?

Toggy and I set off on our trek at 1030, June 23.

Mission: Move Warfare Miniatures production lock, stock and barrel 141 miles from Middlesbrough to Nottingham. First we needed to do the 192 miles from home to Middlesbrough.

What? ALL of those? In the cage? You must be having a giraffe mate!

That journey was very productive as we got to grips with a new phase in Warfare's development....

Warfare Miniatures - price changes

Lots of companies try and lead into difficult news with the back story. I prefer to be to the point.
I want to let customers know that Warfare Miniatures will be increasing the prices of certain codes from August 1st 2018.

Having told you that, I can now explain a little about why we are doing this.

Warfare Miniatures makes money but in six years, every penny has gone back into the range to develop...

Gunter's video of LoA Waterloo 2015 + Blog links

My own 2nd Dragoons

ATTENTION: LOADS OF GOOD LINKS ALL OVER THIS POST!

As a 'non-Facebooker' I often miss bits and pieces of hobby stuff. This particular 2+ minutes of video footage was taken by Germanicus at our 2015 re-fight of Waterloo in Derby.

Adrian made the terrain, Toggy, Gerry, Peter, Barry and several other chaps provided the 8,000 or so figures. The event was a decisive result and the game...

The Prussians are coming!

Code P1 Prussian musketeers advancing

Alas, I have not yet had time to paint any of the new Prussian infantry which we will soon release:

P01 Prussian musketeers marching
P02 Prussian Grenadiers marching
P03 Prussian Command marching
P04 Prussian musketeers firing
P05 Prussian musketeers loading

I'll hopefully get to that soon although travel is currently the rate limiting step. In the meantime Mr...

Why wouldn't they?

We sent the Huguenots to Jamaica during our Battle for Britain campaign set in 1693 (Colin Napier's brigade)

It seems to be accepted wisdom that Huguenot regiments in the service of England and Holland did not carry pikes during the period 1688 - 1697.

Before I continue, apart from logic, I have no additional evidence to offer interested parties regarding what is stated in this piece.

De la...

What you can do with the new Swedish cavalry

I'll let the pictures do the talking in this post. I have now had a bit of a chance to play around with the new Swedish cavalry. Although I have not painted all 20 different models, nor put the various arms in the different positions, I did manage to get a bit of variety going.

I really believe these will become the benchmark Swedish cavalry for the Great Northern War. I'll do another couple of...

1,000,000 up Thank you!

We are still marching forward and relentless

Let's start this Saturday with a BIG THANKS to all followers and visitors to our modest blog! We have today exceeded our millionth page view.

At recent events where the League of Augsburg has had representation we've noticed an increasing tendency for people to comment on how much they enjoy the blog. These comments are almost always qualified with detail...

We are doing something right it seems!

A ten year, iterative process

Wargames Illustrated dropped through my letterbox recently and in it there is a positive review of The War of Three Kings with some pretty pictures of Nick Eyre's wonderful 1672 collection being used to illustrate the rules.

Two well produced videos have been uploaded onto YouTube also by WI and the views and likes seems to indicate we might be on to something with the...
